    From the host

This is the sponsored board for Minneapolis: the City of Lakes and the Mill City, built where the Mississippi drops over St. Anthony Falls. Its name joins mni, the Dakota word for water, to polis, the Greek for city. One page where the city's businesses, events, venues and causes put themselves in front of people looking for what's happening locally.

Every ranked listing on this board is a paid placement. Sponsors bid for a spot, and the order is set by one thing only: the total each sponsor has bid in the current round. Nobody is ranked by reviews, editorial picks or an algorithm. Outbid a listing above you and you move up; the next sponsor can do the same.

Minneapolis lives outdoors in every season: summer on the Chain of Lakes and the Grand Rounds, fall along the river, and winter on park rinks, ski trails and the skyways that link downtown blocks above the snow. It is a theater and music town, a city of taprooms and church-basement hotdish, of Somali, Mexican, Hmong and Scandinavian kitchens, and of cheese-stuffed burgers argued over on the south side.

It's for anyone with something Minneapolis should know about: a restaurant opening in the North Loop, a cafe in Northeast, a Somali restaurant in Cedar-Riverside, a gallery show in the Warehouse District, a bike shop in Seward, a pop-up market in Longfellow, a charity drive in North Minneapolis, a new shop in Linden Hills or a service business in St. Paul, Bloomington, Edina or Eden Prairie.

Each listing links straight to the sponsor's own site. Links are marked as sponsored, and every listing is reviewed against the board's rules.

    Questions

    How is the order decided?
By the total each sponsor has bid in the current round, highest first. Nothing else moves a listing: no reviews, no editorial picks, no algorithm.
    Is every listing an ad?
Yes. Every ranked listing on this board is a paid placement, and each link is marked as sponsored.
Can a St. Paul or suburban business list on the Minneapolis board?
Yes, if it has a Minneapolis connection, and the rest of the Twin Cities counts. A bakery in St. Paul, a clinic in Bloomington, a shop in Edina or a service business in Eden Prairie, St. Louis Park or Brooklyn Park that serves people in Minneapolis belongs here as much as one downtown. Listings are reviewed against the board's rules, and ones that break them are removed.
Can a winter pop-up, a food truck or a nonprofit list?
Yes. The board is for anything with a Minneapolis connection: a pop-up by a park skating rink, a food truck downtown, a lake cleanup, a neighborhood festival, a theater run, a taproom trivia night or a food shelf drive. Each listing links to the sponsor's own site, and every listing is reviewed against the board's rules.
What does a spot on the Minneapolis board cost?
You choose your bid; the minimum on this board is $5. A service fee is added on top, and checkout shows the full total before you pay. To move up, raise your bid; you pay only for the raise. When a round closes, its final order is kept in the board's archive and a new round opens.
