    From the host

Phoenix sits in the Sonoran Desert's Salt River Valley, with Camelback and Piestewa Peak inside the city, South Mountain to the south, the White Tanks and Superstitions on the horizon, and canals running through it all, a way of watering the desert that the Hohokam began here centuries ago. Saguaros and palo verdes, adobe and stucco, citrus in the yard and mountain preserves minutes from downtown: that's the Valley of the Sun.

The Valley keeps its own calendar. Winter is patio, hiking and farmers-market season, when visitors come back for the sun. Summer means walks before dawn, pool days and monsoon storms that bring dust, lightning and the smell of creosote from mid-June through September. The food and the rhythm stay local: Sonoran hot dogs and carne asada, prickly pear and citrus, tamales at Christmas and First Friday art walks on Roosevelt Row.

This is the sponsored board for Phoenix: one page where the Valley's businesses, events, venues and causes put themselves in front of people looking for what's happening locally.

Every ranked listing on this board is a paid placement. Sponsors bid for a spot, and the order is set by one thing only: the total each sponsor has bid in the current round. Nobody is ranked by reviews, editorial picks or an algorithm. Outbid a listing above you and you move up, and the next sponsor can do the same.

It's for anyone with something Phoenix should know about: a restaurant opening on Roosevelt Row, a coffee shop in Arcadia, a gallery show on Grand Avenue, a vintage store in the Melrose District, a pop-up market in Garfield, a charity drive in Maryvale, a new shop in Ahwatukee or a pool, HVAC or landscaping business serving Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa and Chandler.

Each listing links straight to the sponsor's own site. Links are marked as sponsored, and every listing is reviewed against the board's rules.

    Questions

    How is the order decided?
By the total each sponsor has bid in the current round, highest first. Nothing else moves a listing: no reviews, no editorial picks, no algorithm.
    Is every listing an ad?
Yes. Every ranked listing on this board is a paid placement, and each link is marked as sponsored.
Does this board cover the whole Valley?
It covers anything with a Phoenix connection: the city's own villages and neighborhoods, from Deer Valley and Sunnyslope to Maryvale, Laveen and Ahwatukee, and the cities around them in Maricopa and Pinal counties, including Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, Glendale, Peoria, Surprise, Goodyear, Buckeye and Queen Creek.
Can a seasonal business or a one-time event list here?
Yes. A winter farmers market, a fall pumpkin patch in Gilbert, a monsoon-season roofer or a First Friday show on Roosevelt Row all have a Phoenix connection. Listings are reviewed against the board's rules, and ones that break them are removed. When a round closes, its final order is kept in the board's archive and a new round opens.
Can a nonprofit, school or neighborhood group list here?
Yes. A summer water drive, a heat-relief volunteer call, a canal or trail cleanup, a school supply drive in South Phoenix or a block party in Coronado all belong here. You choose your bid, starting at $5. A service fee is added on top, and checkout shows the full total before you pay. To move up, raise your bid; you pay only for the raise.
