How ranking works

Position is bought, and only bought

This is a board of paid ads — unpaid entries are labeled. Paid listings are ordered by the cumulative amount their sponsor has paid, highest first. Nothing else moves a listing up — not how long it has been there, not what the host thinks of it, and not any assessment of the destination.

Ties break by who got there first

Two listings holding the same total are ordered by when they reached it, earliest first. A tie beyond that is broken by listing identifier, which is stable and arbitrary — so the order never changes on its own.

The opening bid is $5

A new listing on this board starts at $5 or more. Bids are in whole dollars, and a raise moves a listing up by at least $5.

An existing sponsor pays only the difference

Raising a listing from $20 to $35 is charged $15, and the listing’s total becomes $35. A sponsor never pays again for the position they already hold.

A service fee is added at checkout

The amount you bid is the amount that counts toward position. A separate, labelled service fee — our fee and the card processing — is added on top at checkout, and the exact total appears before you pay — never after. On this board an opening bid of $5 is charged $5.97 in total. Fees never affect position: the board’s figures are bid amounts only.

Position is not reserved while you pay

The position a price buys is the position at that instant. Someone else may bid while your payment is settling, and the board will reflect that. This is stated here, on the amount screen, and on the confirmation screen before you pay.

Rounds end, and the board resets

This board runs in rounds. When a round ends its final order is archived, totals reset, and the next round begins. New bids close for the final minutes of a round so that a payment cannot settle after the round it was meant for has ended; a payment that settles late is refunded automatically, everything but the card processing.

If the host stops the board

A host may stop taking new bids at any time. Listings already paid for keep showing until the round ends, the board is not taken down, and nothing is refunded — the exposure that was bought is still delivered. Only new bids stop.

Bids are final

Bids are not refundable. A listing that is removed for breaching the content policy is not refunded either. The exceptions are the ones the Refund Policy lists: a payment that settles after its round has ended, or for a destination someone else already holds, is refunded automatically, everything but the card processing. A listing the host declines in review is never charged while its card is on hold — the hold is released; one already paid for is refunded, everything but the card processing.

Listings are moderated, and a listing is not an endorsement

The host may hold, approve or remove a listing on this board, and the platform may remove one anywhere. A destination that is flagged after it is approved stops being served immediately — approval is not permanence. Nothing on this board is a recommendation by the host.

Reporting a listing

Use “Report a listing” on the board. A report is recorded and read by a person; it does not take a listing down by itself, and the answer is the same whether or not the listing exists.
